The following factors were taken into account in assigning a score from +3 to -5 to the Peer Evaluation Memos:

Positive Factors:

-- specific, detailed feedback for each firm member with useful examples

-- effective use of the Firm's Conduct Rules to organize comments and explicate the award of different points among firm members

-- either (1) award a range of points and explain the basis for differing points for each firm member or (2) if points were evenly divided (or divided 4-4-4-3), provide a persuasive justification for giving each firm member the same points.

Negative Factors:

-- failure to mention or make effective use of the Firm's Conduct Rules

-- very short and general comments

-- dividing points evenly (or 4-4-4-3) without providing a good explanation of why each firm member received the same number of points

-- failure to explain why one firm member received significantly more or less points

-- negative comments that lack sufficient detail to be constructive

Note: the on-line peer evaluation form repeatedly stated: "Explain your point award in terms of your firm's code of conduct. Special examples of the firm member's conduct are encouraged, especially positive examples."
